Overview

Expanding product listings across multiple Amazon marketplaces comes with its challenges. A recent client of CaptenAmz faced significant issues when attempting to list a product with two variations (6-pack and 12-pack) in the USA, UK, and Germany. Despite setting up the variations correctly, an unwanted 24-pack variation was automatically being added due to marketplace syncing issues. Our team stepped in to resolve the problem efficiently.

PROBLEMS

Source Market and Unwanted Sync Issues

The USA was set as the source market, and when the client created a parent listing to sell globally (UK and Germany), Amazon’s system automatically synced all variations from the USA. This resulted in an unwanted 24-pack variation appearing alongside the intended 6-pack and 12-pack.

Germany Marketplace Issue

The same issue persisted in Germany, where the 24-pack variation kept appearing in the variation listing. This led to inventory management challenges and an inconsistent product catalog across marketplaces.

UK Marketplace Issue

Despite setting up the listing correctly, the UK marketplace kept fetching the 24-pack variation, causing three variations (6-pack, 12-pack, and 24-pack) to appear instead of just the two intended ones.

Difficulty in Manual Removal

Despite multiple attempts to manually remove the 24-pack variation, it kept reappearing, causing frustration and hindering the proper listing structure.

ACTIONS

The CaptenAMZ team developed a structured approach to resolve variation issues, correct product categorization, and properly merge parent-child listings, ensuring better visibility and a seamless shopping experience.

Solution Implemented

Consultation with Amazon Seller Support

We first consulted with Amazon Seller Support to understand the root cause of the unwanted variation syncing and determine the necessary backend adjustments to prevent automatic variation addition.

CLR (Category Listings Report) Analysis

Based on their guidance, we downloaded the CLR (Category Listings Report) to analyze listing data. This helped us identify how variations were structured, manually remove the unwanted 24-pack variation, and re-upload the listing with only the 6-pack and 12-pack variations.

Creating a New Parent Listing

Using insights from the CLR report, we created a new parent listing from scratch, ensuring that only the two intended variations were included. This step was crucial in preventing the system from automatically adding variations from the USA marketplace.

Backend Adjustments for UK & Germany

To further resolve the issue, we worked with Amazon Seller Support to make backend adjustments, specifically correcting size mapping to prevent the 24-pack from reappearing and ensuring that sync settings did not automatically add variations from the USA listing.

Final Re-upload & Validation

After implementing the fixes, we re-uploaded the listing with the correct 6-pack and 12-pack variations and verified that the 24-pack variation was successfully removed across all marketplaces. Post-upload checks confirmed listing accuracy and ensured that future syncing issues were prevented.

Finally, we provided the client with a step-by-step guideline on how to prevent similar issues in the future, emphasizing the importance of regularly checking CLR reports, managing variations effectively, and maintaining open communication with Amazon Seller Support for backend fixes.
