Amazon Listing Score Calculator FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about scoring, auditing and optimizing Amazon product listings.

An Amazon listing score is a 0 to 100 rating of how well a product detail page is optimized to rank in Amazon search and convert shoppers into buyers. It checks the title, bullet points, images, description and A+ Content, keywords, price, rating and reviews against Amazon’s style guidelines and proven best practices. The higher the score, the fewer issues are holding back your traffic and sales.

Paste any Amazon product URL or a 10-character ASIN and choose the marketplace (or let the tool detect it). The calculator pulls the live listing, scores the title, bullets, images and content on a 100-point methodology, then returns a score breakdown, a list of critical issues ranked by severity, and a recommended fix for each one. Results appear in seconds and you can download the report as a PDF.

On our 0 to 100 scale, a score of 85 or higher means the listing is well optimized and competitive. 70 to 84 is solid but leaves traffic and conversions on the table. 50 to 69 means important elements are missing or weak, and below 50 usually signals issues that are actively hurting rank and sales. Aim for 85+ on your best-selling and most-advertised ASINs first.

Yes. You can score any Amazon listing for free, with no Seller Central login, browser extension or credit card. The score, breakdown and top issues are shown instantly. If you want the complete audit with every finding and recommendation, you can unlock it by entering your email address.

The calculator works on 23 Amazon marketplaces: United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, Japan, Singapore, Australia and South Africa. Paste the full product URL and the marketplace is detected automatically.

Yes. The tool scores any public Amazon listing, not just your own. Run your top competitors’ ASINs alongside yours to see exactly where their titles, images, bullets or reviews outperform you, then use those gaps to prioritize your own listing updates and PPC strategy.

No. Amazon’s Listing Quality Dashboard in Seller Central only covers your own ASINs and mainly flags missing or invalid attributes. The CaptenAMZ calculator scores the customer-facing content that drives rankings and conversions, works on any ASIN (including competitors), and explains why each issue matters and how to fix it. Use both together for the most complete picture.

The score itself is not an Amazon ranking factor, but what it measures is. Keyword relevance in your title and bullets helps Amazon’s search algorithm and its Rufus AI shopping assistant understand what you sell, while strong images, reviews and content raise click-through and conversion rates. Higher sales velocity and conversion are among the strongest signals for organic rank, and they also lower your PPC ACoS.

Since July 27, 2026, Amazon limits product titles to 75 characters including spaces (brand name included) in most non-media categories. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Turkey were excluded from the change. Amazon also introduced Item Highlights, a searchable field of up to 125 extra characters for key features. Longer titles may be shortened or rewritten by Amazon, so check your titles with the calculator.

Use all five bullet points and keep each under 255 characters. Lead each bullet with the key benefit in a short phrase, then support it with specifics such as size, material, compatibility or use case. Work your main keywords in naturally, and avoid ALL CAPS, emojis, special symbols, pricing, and unverifiable claims like “best” or “number one”, which go against Amazon’s style guidelines.

Fill every image slot available in your category, typically 7 to 9, and add a product video if you can. The main image must have a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) with the product filling about 85% of the frame. Use images at least 1000 pixels on the longest side so zoom works; 2000 pixels is better. Include infographics, lifestyle shots, size or dimension images and a comparison image.

No tool can see another seller’s backend search terms, because Amazon keeps them private. The calculator focuses on everything shoppers and Amazon’s algorithm can see on the page. For your own listings, keep backend search terms under 250 bytes, use only words not already in your title and bullets, and leave out brand names, ASINs, commas and repeated words.

Yes. A+ Content (Enhanced Brand Content) adds rich images, comparison charts and brand storytelling below the fold, which helps conversion and answers buyer questions before they leave. Amazon reports that A+ Content can increase sales by up to 8%. It is available to brand owners enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, and listings without it usually score lower on content.

Traffic without sales is almost always a conversion problem on the listing itself. The most common causes are a weak main image, a rating below 4 stars or too few reviews, a price out of line with competitors, vague bullet points, missing A+ Content, or images that do not answer buyer questions. Run your ASIN through the calculator to see which of these issues are costing you the most.

Start with the issues marked Critical and High in your report, since they cost the most traffic and conversions. In most cases the fastest wins are rewriting the title to fit the 75-character limit with your main keyword first, filling all image slots, upgrading the main image, rewriting bullets around benefits, and adding A+ Content. Re-run the calculator after every change and recheck your listing monthly.
